Do you take payment from insurance providers?

We accept most dental insurance plans. We can bill directly to your insurance. You are responsible for the amount not covered by your insurance.

How do you determine your fees?

The Ontario Dental Association sends out a suggestive fee guide for dentists. Our fees are based on the fee guide, and we do not go above their fees. Insurance companies use the same fee guide for which level of reimbursement it provides for their plans.

Do you need to get approval from dental insurance prior to your treatment?

Crowns and bridges, partial dentures, and full dentures need predetermination prior to treatment. This means we send your insurance the estimate with your x-rays, and they let you know prior to the treatment how much they will cover. They need to approve the work before it is done, because this is considered major work by the insurance companies.

Processes such as examinations, cleanings, fillings and root canals are normally considered basic and do not need predetermination. You need to be aware of the dollar limit your insurance plan will cover per year and at what percentage, as well as what year of the fee guide your insurance company is using. If you have any questions, the secretary can help you. Some insurance companies let us call on your behalf. Others will only speak to you.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

During your first visit, we will ask you to fill out a medical and dental history form. We want to understand what you are looking for. If you have not had a complete examination done in the past three years, we will do one if you agree. If you have not had x-rays done in the past three years, we will also take x-rays. If you have had them done, we will ask you if we can get them from your previous dentist.

We understand some patients may feel nervous, uncomfortable, embarrassed or afraid of visiting the dentist. We are proud that you took the first step towards your dental health! Your comfort is our priority, and we will do everything possible to put you at ease, which includes promoting a family-friendly atmosphere to help you feel better.
